The aim of this argumentative essay is to explain and give an account of the interventions we have performed from the geriatric field as Social Work professionals in connection with body fragility and life’s finitude. We will approach those concepts as natural, everyday phenomena we experience as an inherent part of our human being condition. We seek to find a cultural perspective about death and its implications, basing ourselves on Foucault’s theory of biopower. This work is based on the articulation between theory and practice, taken as starting point the bibliographic research and the reviews of filed records. We socialize the contributions we put forward from the discipline of Social Work to work and accompany the elderly and their affectional bonds while going through these experiences. We also intend to rethink the current practices from a critical, Latin American and geriatric perspective.
