Abstract

The aim of this essay is to interpret the so-called period «Amazonian cycle» of the Brazilian sculptress Maria Martins. It was a stage, lasting from 1942 to 1946, in which the artist was inspired by the jungle that still dominates a large part of Brazilian territory.
