(3) La naturaleza y las formas del tiempo. La muerte en Venecia
Abstract
Through an analysis of Thomas Mann's novel, Death in Venice (1912), and some of the most significant episodes of Luchino Visconti's film, of the same name (1971), this essay aims to examine the different forms of time —aesthetic or not— which Gustav von Aschenbach, the main character, experiences because of his seduction before the young Tadzio. The influence of Arthur Schopenhauer and Friedrich Nietzsche on Thomas Mann appears throughout his tale, as Mann himself acknowledges in his book Story of my life.Downloads
