Abstract

Antoni Cunill Cabanellas was one of the founders of the modern theatre in Argentina. He created such basic institutions as the Teatro Nacional de la Comedia (1935) and became an inevitable referent of the Argentine theatre. This article deals with his Catalan origin, his first steps in the theatre, both discovering his family roots in this world and his close relationship with Adrià Gual when he became his disciple.
