Abstract

This paper considers the three films directed by Wong Kar-Wai as a triptych rather than a trilogy, since the director refused the latter categorization. Indeed, as he admitted, the relationship between the films arose almost by chance. This paper establishes a link between the three films through elements such as their characters, soundtracks, sets and narratives which, as we will see, are closely related. The main characters and narratives are the foundations on which this continuity is built, while the remaining elements are present to a greater or lesser extent in most of Wong Kar-Wai's work.
