Abstract

This study examines the cultural contribution of the catalan pianist Carlos Gumersindo Vidiella (1856-1915) through an analysis of his most famous recitals, his repertoire, and the views of critics. Vidiella appeared in his first concert and subsequently rose to fame at the turn of the 20th century and was one of the most influential figures in the creation of the first great school of pianists in Barcelona, a generation of artists that would take concert performances to new levels of excellence.
