Abstract

The 1934 extraordinary Christmas issue of the journal D'Ací i D'Allà can be seen as the first general report on the international avant-garde movement published in Catalonia. In this paper we analyse the meanings of the movement and establish a series of relationships between L'Esprit Nouveau, Le Corbusier and Josep Lluís Sert. The emergence of a "Latin" trend in the architecture of the Modern Movement helped the GATCPAC (Group of Catalan Architects and Technicians for Progress in Contemporary Architecture) to develop and consolidate its identity.
