Abstract

This article reconstructs and characterizes conversations among a group of young critics, like Nicolás Rosa, Josefina Ludmer and María Teresa Gramuglio, among others, which took place in the magazine Setecientosmonos in the mid-1960s and under circumstances closely linked to the theoretical updating and university renewal led by Adolfo Prieto at the Instituto de Letras in the Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias del Hombre (Rosario) of Universidad Nacional del Litoral. By means of a contextualized analysis of the published collaborations, this paper allows establishing the relationships of these young critics with their predecessors, especially Prieto, David Viñas and Oscar Masotta, and to clarify the conditions of emergence of the so called "new criticism" in Argentina.
