Abstract

This paper discusses the problem of interpretation and the enunciative positions in the current criticism of anthropocentrism in contemporary theories. The questions about who interprets and through what languageprompt reflection about the uses of anthropomorphism, revealing two important issues: the performative contradiction and the search for literality (a strategy to avoid anthropocentric enunciative positions). A poem by the Argentine poet Beatriz Vallejos accompanies the reflection and provides a key to thinking about these questions. Finally, we propose a category for further analysis: theoretical fiction and its critical potential in the face of the imaginative challenge demanded by current critical gestures.
