Abstract

This paper is a review of academic literature concerning the student movement developed in Chile from 2011 to 2014. While revisiting previous proposals it elaborates on a set categories in which three interpretations about the origins of the movement are established: one is purely sociological, the other comes from the economic sphere and finally a somehow political interpretation. We argue that a fourth kind of academic works exist, in which the success and impact of the movement is attributed to cultural factors. In the projections and solutions sphere contained in the different analysis it established that a certain point of view, which regards politics as an that privileged sphere to foster the escape of a conflict that is of a more structural origin, is privileged. That tension would be made evident in the current political scenario, specially in regard to the corruption scandals en the new political cycle.
