12. Also a nomenclature conflict: terminology is not innocent
Keywords:
Islamic State, terrorism, social conflict, political conflictAbstract
One of the usual mistakes made in the “Western” world when dealing with Islam is to consider it a monolithic entity; another one, also widely extended, is related to the use, abuse and misuse of the terminology that characterizes this way of understanding God. This shows up repeatedly when dealing with Islamic-related terrorism and, especially, with the improperly called “Islamic State”. This article tries to correct this bad use of nomenclature and shows that this terrorist group is neither a State nor Islamic, notions that are being accepted uncritically.
