Abstract

This article analyses the evolution of poverty and social inequality in Spain (2007-2016). It looks into their current increase and provides some data about the associated social expenditure. Finally, it explores some of the social consequences of the persistence of both social phenomena, the way that these are reflected in the Spanish public opinion, and their involvement in some of the present social mobilisations, such as those of the Spanish pensioners.
