Resumen

This article analyzes the characteristics of the crime novel in the contemporary fiction of Bernardo Carvalho, the Brazilian writer, and Francisco José Viegas, the Portuguese writer. The novels Nove Noites (2002) and Lourenço Marques (2002) are present as narratives marked by the characteristics of the detective genre in a movement that transgresses and subverts these elements.
