Abstract
This article, relative to the history of education in nineteenth century Chile, focalizes on the decade of 1850. As well as exploring the link between primary school education in Chile and the construction of the nation, it also deals with the problems of primary textbooks diffusion in that period. Through the analysis of this diffusion’s limitations, the investigation may enable historians of education to reflect on the use of such documents as primary sources.Downloads
