Protobethylus eocenicus, new genus and species of Bethylidae: Bethylinae, is described from the Lowermost Eocene amber of the Paris Basin (France). Anew phylogenetic analysis of the bethyline genera is proposed. Although having superficial similarities with the habitus of Lytopsenella and Eupsenella; Protobethylus is more derived than these basal genera.
