Menorca shoe industry: key to increasing their competitiveness in a global world

This article tries to make a first approach to the analysis of conditions today, in Menorca footwear industry that can foster the efficient development of the Plan of Science, Technology and Innovation 2009-2012 of the Government of the Balearic Islands. To this end, contextualized, first, the footwear sector Menorca on the international, national, balearic and shoot, and continued exposure to the study of those elements characteristic of the footwear industry Menorca can facilitate the deployment of the fundamental of the Plan, namely: Economic governance and social capital. Theimportance of the work lies in its focus on the importance of collaboration between the operators as
a key to the survival of traditional industries in a world increasingly global and competitive. Public authorities play an important role in this respect, being able to act with measures to encourage a greater partnership.
