Industrial Production, Annual Index, Balearic IslandsAbstract
The article focuses on the construction of an annual index of industrial production (includes manufacturing, mining and energy, but not construction) of the Balearic Islands in the mid nineteenth century and early twenty-first century, following similar methodology to the used in the other three Spanish regional indexes of industrial production already available: Andalusia, Catalonia and the Basque Country. On the one hand, the choice allows comparison between four industrial careers in the long term which have been very different from each other and also had had a different role in the respective productive structures of the regions analyzed: particularly relevant in cases Catalan and Basque, a shorter run on the inland and southern examples.
