Abstract

An analysis of the use of Brazilian territory, considering, as an event, the presence of University Institutions in the country. The interpretation of the geographic space, by the appearance and consolidation of theses institutions, is based upon the comprehension of the territory used for this activicty, since the technical environment started to expand after the adoption of modernization actions, especially with the arrival of the Portuguese Crown in Brazil, in the beginning of the XIX century. The historical view of the use of a territory helps to acknowledge, in each temporality, a specific way of social relations gatherings, formed by multiple and heterogeneous processes and space dynamics.
