Abstract

Besides the metropolisation, Brazil has experienced significant urban transformations, starting from the 1980s, when the medium size and local cities also increased in size. All this puts forward the rupture with paradigms, so that the old outlines used to classify the Brazilian urban network, the regional divisions and metropolitan areas, until now largely used, are, in part, outdated. One of the ways of recognition of these changes is the understanding of the production processes of non-metropolitan urban spaces in relation to the restructuring of agricultural production. We have as main objective to identify the processes and dynamics of (re) production of the non-metropolitan urban spaces and the new rural-urban relationships promoted by the restructuring of agricultural production, especially considering cities with intermediation roles in the Brazilian urban network, that are important nodes for the management of globalized agro-industrial networks.
