Urban-touristic growth: grid and mark urban in the Balneário Camboriú

Abstract

Located on the cost of Santa Catarina, a state of Brazil’s southern region, the city of Balneário Camboriú is caracterizated by a strong dynamics in its urban-touristic growth, implicating fast and large transformations in the urban space. Physical an historical conditioning factors and the improvement of the touristic activity oriented the construction of the actual grid of this city, which is today one of Brazil’s main touristic balnearies. The study of the city’s growth, by redoing the construction of its urban grid, starting with a historical analysis, points the marks left by history in the territory and allows the establishment of guidelines towards the preservation and qualification, both urban and environmental, of the city.
