Regional planning and recent changes in the southern touristic circuit in Peru

Abstract

This is a systemic aproach of the tourist circuit and the territory and that tourism can be a powerful tranformation factor. Therefore, we consider that both systems should be carefully designed through plans that combine both prosesses. To do so, the southern tourist circuit, composed by three main destinations (Cusco, Arequipa and Puno), and the territorial system in which the systems develops that is based in an urban system linked by a transport network and connetcs urban, productive and conservation areas (tourist resources). Its is essential for future tourist, territorial or regional plans and projects to asses changes occurred during the last decade in search of development, territorial equilibrium and sutainability avoiding closed isolated areas. The actual diagnosis guides to proposals for a better tourist and territorial.
