Abstract

In 1915 he arrived in Barcelona on a forestry engineer and french landscaper Jean Claude Nicolas Forestier, called to proceed with the landscaping of the Montjuïc mountain, under a proposed International Exhibition of Power Industry and to develop several other projects for the city, the most important of which was the Pedralbes park. Twelve years later, Forestier was called to Lisbon with the task of preparing a master plan of the city and, more specifically, a solution to the extension of Avenida da Liberdade and the redesign of the park that crowned, Park Edward VII. Between one and another time, the city model Forestier had matured and can be considered the outline proposal for Lisbon as the ultimate expression of his idea of city-park, an idea that will influence the approach of architects like Le Corbusier.
