Current views and definitions of cultural heritage have had their own history and main characters. That was how the first ideas and principles created what we now recognize as cultural heritage. The aim of this article is to bring this route of conceptualization and institutionalization with a global view and the current web resources.
To that end it is studied the case of Spain, which allows us to review the consolidation of principles of protection and conservation of operational tools from the state level to the regional (called autonomous communities). Of the above mentioned, there are described the legislation and administrative organisms of the communities of Andalusia, Catalonia and Galicia.
Finally, we offer the list of the main Conventions and International Organizations as well as their impact on Spain, both in the creation of institutions as in the legislation.
