The hypostyle halls are an architectural vehicle that leads us to an understanding of classical aesthetics, monumentality and functionality, from Egypt, Greece or Achaemenid Persia. The creative capacity linked to the democratic sense of the Athens of Pericles culminates in beautiful hall for popular functions, such as music, theatre or oratory. A playful and free version, based on Gaudí’s Modernist movement, shows us that, with imagination and stylistic knowledge, relevant symbiotic results can be obtained. The hypostyle hall of Park Güell, realizes in formal equilibrium, fusing classical rationality with the emotion of Gaudí’s approach, is a demonstration of this thought. With this paper, we propose an aesthetic dialogue between classical and modernist forms, not to conclude with a qualifying opinion, but to observe the symbiosis resulting from their formal use.
