Homeless people are citizens who suffer social and legal discrimination from society. The capitalist system classifies people according to their purchasing power and implies that poor people are excluded from the whole of citizenship. Structural violence against the homeless must be eradicated and framed within a context of struggle for basic human rights and that the quality of democracy depends on the treatment given to the most disadvantaged groups. In this article, the city of Barcelona has been chosen as the center of the practical analysis due to its importance and dimensions within the cities of the European environment and due to the availability of strict information on the quantity and distribution of resources aimed at people without home.
