What will the cosmetics of the future be like?
Abstract
The conventional cosmetic industry has at its disposal thousands of ingredients to make its products, most of them are synthetic and mainly derived from the petrochemical industry, which is why they cause great problems for human health and the environment. Currently, a trend is being created to reduce chemical compounds and replace them with ones of natural origin. This is where cosmetic biotechnology comes in. Seaweeds are one of the most valuable raw materials that we can find in nature and it contains a large amount of bioactive compounds useful for cosmetics. Depending on the type of seaweed, we will obtain some cosmetic properties or others. In this way, by doing extractions of biological compounds, it will be possible to transform conventional cosmetics into a much more natural and ecological one.
