Desmitificando el estigma de la obesidad
Abstract
Un estigma es un conjunto de creencias, actitudes y percepciones negativas que tienen algunas personas o grupos hacia otros, basadas en características particulares que los hacen diferentes o que se desvían de la norma socialmente aceptada. Estas características pueden ser atribuidas a diversos aspectos, como la apariencia física, la condición socioeconómica, la orientación sexual, etc. Y en este caso a las personas con sobrepeso u obesidad. Y el estigma puede manifestarse de diversas formas, como la discriminación, la exclusión social, los prejuicios y la estigmatización interna (cuando la persona afectada asume y acepta los estereotipos negativos asociados a su condición).
