Abstract

Las autonosuyas was a controversial film directed by Rafael Gil in 1983 based on the book of the same name of Fernando Vizcaíno Casas. This production, typical of the political comedies of Spanish Transition, was a neofrancoist satire in which tried to criticize what were perceived as the excesses of democratization, with special attention to the construction of the State of the Autonomies. The purpose of this article is, after placing the film in its cinematographic context, to address its production and plot to analyze its historical discourse and the evolution of its reception, from the criticism received in the consensus of the time to its recovery by the current right media.
