Enlightened culture, where the stamental division mutates into a class society, will develop new mechanisms of classification and hierarchy. The foundation of this new classical organization comes from the baroque paradigm of the Theatrum Mundi, converted, in the discourses on art and theater of the encyclopedists, into the model of the public sphere. This is how we find it in Diderot: the comedian is the public man ruled by ideas and not by feelings. On the other hand, private life is subjected, in the margins allowed by bourgeois individuality, to a new morality centered on the export of the economic model to the political. A new morality and a new social classification are announced in the stage model, summarized in "I pretend then I am", the real thing is the representation.
