Teaching Russian to foreigners in the United States takes place outside the language environment. Nevertheless, it is known that the Russian-speaking community in the United States exceeds 3 million people. In Russian language classes, the diaspora can be an effective way to practice the language and get acquainted with the culture. Teachers share their experience in applying the community-based learning model, project-based learning, and transformative learning to work with the Russian-speaking diaspora.
