Focus and scope

Anuari's contributions are presented in four blocks.

  • A first block on history, with contributions that analyze the history of printing and publishing, the history of reading, and the history of libraries and archives.
  • A second block focused on books and publishing, with articles focused on collaboration between publishers and libraries, the overview of children's and young people's books, studies and research on publishing and reading habits, easy reading, publications periodicals, electronic publishing, book trade and translation.
  • A third block dedicated to libraries, public, school, university, specialized and heritage centers.
  • And, finally, a fourth block aimed at reading, among children and young people, among university students, digital reading and studies and research on reading and the promotion of reading in public libraries and bookstores. .

In addition, each new edition of the Anuari seeks to broaden the scope by incorporating some new features with chapters that provide a broader view of what has happened around reading, books, and libraries.

The magazine is aimed at professionals and academics in the field of books and libraries, and students or other people interested in these disciplines.

Open access policy

The journal provides immediate free access to content based on the principle that making the search available to the public facilitates a broader and more global exchange of knowledge.

Expert evaluation process

Articles are reviewed by the journal's editors and, if necessary, by an expert on the advisory board.

Open publication

The Anuari is published biennially with articles that appear throughout the year, in an open issue "being published", so that the different works are published periodically until the current issue is completed.

The previous title of this publication was Anuari de l'Observatori de Biblioteques, Llibres i Lectura (ISSN 2014-0088) and is accessible at: https://www.raco.cat/index.php/AnuariObservatori/index.

History of the magazine

The Anuari de Biblioteques, Llibres i Lectura (Libraries, Books and Reading Yearbook) is a publication that started during 2009-2010 academic year with the aim of collecting the status of the issue and the balance of actions in terms of research, creation and dissemination, around these three areas in Catalonia: Libraries, Publishing and Reading.

Until 2017, the Anuari was the most important activity of the Observatori de Biblioteques, Llibres i Lectura, attached to the Faculty of Library Science and Documentation, and which had been created in 2008 by the Governing Council of the University of Barcelona. The observatory was dissolved with the establishment of the Center for Research in Information, Communication and Culture which took place in 2017.
