Abstract

After identifying the basic characteristics of special libraries, the study provides a critical analysis of these centres in Catalonia according to typology and owner, with data from the Libraries Directory. Online catalogues and networks created and activities performed during this three-year period are described. Finally, the current state of special libraries is discussed, and some ideas and proposals are presented.
