Resum

This article focuses on the development of the hydroelectricity supply before the Spanish civil war. The author suggest that the cost of obtaining energy by using hydroelectricity provided only a relative advantage, according to its physical features and irregular rainfall. Otherwise, the Spanish electrical company’s succeeded. The price system they imposed took advantage of the high price-elasticity of the lightening demand. Thus, Spain didn't achieve intensive industrialization by using hydroelectricity in the thirties, but more than 90 per cent of the country 's inhabitants become electric lightening users.
