Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and synthesize scientific knowledge produced about privacy and confidentiality in a global perspective. This is an integrative literature review performed from the search and analysis of articles published between 2010-2014 on these issues in SciELO.org and PubMed databases, with the descriptors privacy and confidentiality in English, from which were 30 selected articles. More present theme in the studies were: technology, consent, research, adolescence, laws and rights, donation, HIV / AIDS, health services and recommendations. It was noticed too much discussion on less relevant issues at the expense of more important issues. It is hoped that this study can contribute to the strengthening of health care with respect to the research questions.
