Abstract

Are increasing insistent calls to build a democratic society, which discusses and decides the fate of their community and whose members exercise effective territorial citizenship. Since 2011, the University of Lisbon promotes a project of citizen involvement with high school students of Geography, directly led to the discussion of the problems of the territorial community and proposals for intervention. The project has allowed the development of very interesting proposals from students, in collaboration with local authorities and companies and reported in the national media. But it is difficult to change the routines of the traditional school.
