Keywords:
myths, fakes, Geography, students, social networksAbstract
Some of the main geographical fakes that can be found in the Internet are summarised on this paper. Geographical knowledge about real or imaginary places have supplied the creation of spatial myths. The approach of this paper is not only that geographic myths still exist, but also that they seriously affect Geography students, essentially through supposed knowledge transmitted by means of social networks and other media in the world 2.0. In order to evaluate the influence of geographical myths, ten contemporary geographical myths of great diffusion have been collected, evaluating their penetration both in society and in the population of students of Geography. The results let us affirm that the present society shows a great credulity when facing some of these myths. There have not been reported great differences between the students of Geography and the rest of the population.Downloads
