Resumen

The book reviews the history of Japanese geography mainly through the biography of the most important individuals or group of geographers, particularly those formed during the early stages of academic geography in Japan. The author stresses the importance of socio-political context in the geographical thought and practice, and analyses the relationship between power and geography through 150 years of Japanese intellectual history.
