This paper synthesizes the main agrarian transformations in the territory of Tortosa during the Middle Ages, from both archaeological and written sources. These dynamics reflect different models of rural settlement and agrarian strategies, which are related to specific social and economic formations between Late Antiquity and the Late Middle Ages. We present two main case studies: the lower course of the Ebro River, and the Ulldecona valley. With these examples we infer a cross-reading of both those processes and their importance in the configuration of the historical landscape that remains.Downloads
