Brotherhood, fraternity, communion or marital association: the other marriage contracts of the notaries of Girona (first third of the 14th century)

In the 14th century public notarial archives, it appears a minority kind of marriage contract that is also common and widespread in the Northern area of Catalonia: the brotherhood between husband and wife, that sets partnership of possessions inside the marriage. Here we show the contract’s main characteristics, its possibilities for economic history and few reflections about the role it plays in the Cataloniaof mas and unique heir (hereu).
