A study on French immigration in the Girona region is still needed for the early modern period. Marriages announced through Dispenses de Proclames (“Proclamation Waivers”) give us new data to study this phenomenon. This source offers a different approach from that provided by parish registers, covering all the diocese and not just some parishes. Hereby, we discuss the presence, territorial distribution, and settlement as well as origin of immigrants. These elements are all compared with other Catalan areas.
