Abstract

Electropalatography (EPG) is today one of the most effective techniques in the instrumental analysis of articulation. The electropalatograph registers tongue-palate contacts through the activation of electrodes located on the surface of artificial palates.  It also registers the development of tongue-palate contacts through time,  which represents a fundamental improvement over older static palatographic analyses. It provides data in the form of characteristic graphs called electropalatograms which are usually reduced to some type of numerical index that can then be submitted to statistical analysis.
