La invariación acústica en las fricativas del castellano. Estudio perceptivo
Abstract
The present study examines whether we can regard amplitude as an invariant acoustic cue for fricatives in Castilian. To this aim, we edited a series of stimuli changing the amplitude values of [s] and [x] for those of [f] and [θ] and viceversa. The results obtained from listening tests -made up not only of edited syllables but also isolated frication noises-, showed us that amplitude on its own cannot be considered a reliable cue for identification of Spanish fricatives.
