Abstract

The decoration of the Paranimf (Auditorium) of the University of Barcelona contains, among others, two outstanding elements: the representative inscriptions of the faculties at the time of the construction of the building and the pictorial program that pretends to be a representation of the different cultural stages of the country. The article offers, on the one hand, the justification of the most outstanding inscriptions and discovers the existence of an inscription hitherto ignored and which is present in the painting of Dinonís Baixeras relating to the IV Council of Toledo.
