La regulación del suministro de gas en España (1841-1936)

Resum

En este trabajo se pretende analizar cómo se reguló el suministro de gas en España entre 1841 y 1936. Se estudian tres aspectos: 1) La legislación relacionada con esta actividad; 2) Los contratos que las gasistas firmaron con los ayuntamientos y las relaciones entre ambos; y 3) La competencia con la electricidad. Igualmente se distinguen tres etapas: 1.ª 1841-1880; 2.ª 1880-1913; y 3.ª 1914-1936. Entre 1841 y 1859 se consolidó un contrato tipo con los consistorios.
En las décadas de 1860 y 1870 se incorporaron cambios en los convenios para asegurar un buen servicio. Asimismo se aprobaron normas relativas a los contadores y a las atribuciones de los ayuntamientos sobre alumbrado. Las décadas de 1880 y 1890 estuvieron marcadas por la aparición de la electricidad. Entre principios del siglo xx y 1913 la Administración Central quiso garantizar la regularidad y la continuidad del suministro. Y de 1914 a 1936 hubo una mayor intervención del Estado.
