Resum

Aquest estudi tracta de la relació entre música i llenguatge (prosòdia) a la llum d’un estudi de cas centrat en l’Álex, un nen autista hiperlèxic i mínimament verbal. Es compara amb un grup control la seva capacitat de discriminar auditivament parells d’estímuls rítmics i melòdics (música), així com prosòdics (enunciats declaratius, interrogatius i exclamatius, en sèries normals i jabberwocky, i.e., amb estructura sense significat). També s’hi compara la capacitat d’associar un enunciat auditiu amb el signe de puntuació corresponent. L’Álex resulta similar als controls en la discriminació de melodies però inferior en la de ritmes i en la d’enunciats, que és òptima en els controls. S’acosta als controls en l’associació de prosòdia-signe de puntuació, amb enunciats jabberwocky. Els resultats suggereixen que components de la musicalitat com la melodia i el ritme, presents en l’Álex, són segurament constituents primitius de la percepció auditiva humana que poden ser lingüísticament no funcionals si en les primeries del desenvolupament no s’han integrat en la comunicació parlada.
