Contractual agreements in the digital age

Digitalization is playing a central role in Private law and in such a fundamental area of Civil law as Contract law, which is also intertwined with other specific matters, like data protection or copyright. Recent legislative developments in the European Union have shown the need to reformulate the concepts and principles of European contract law in the light of new technological developments. This is particularly obvious in respect of the supply of digital content and digital services and the trading channels for these (and other) goods and services via online platforms. In the future, it remains to be seen to what extent these new approaches can contribute to strengthening the coherence of European contract law in the face of new digital challenges.
