Service-Learning (SL) is a practice that favours the education of an active and committed citizenry. Participation manifests itself in SL in its multidimensional character as an educational principle, a methodological procedure, a process of change, a formative content, a democratic value, a political exercise, and an emotional component. The article reflects on the multiplying factors of participation that can be activated in SL practices, amplifying their educational potential and favouring the construction of an active citizenship. These factors place children as active agents in deciding to participate in the service, in its design and planning, in participation leadership, in developing collaborative action, and in reflecting from, in, and for the activity. Finally, the multiplying factors favour the construction of the 'we citizens' representation, concerned and capable of contributing to our environment's transformation.
