Abstract

E-Service-Learning (e-SL) is a pedagogical innovation in service-learning that integrates digital technologies. In recent years, as a result of the expansion of technologies and emergency remote teaching, an increase in these experiences has been observed in higher education. However, the scientific literature shows that their potential is yet to be further explored. Specifically, evidence of experiences of e-SL at a university in Peru, where the research was conducted, is scarce. In this sense, this study aimed to examine the perceptions of a group of students about an e-SL project. For this purpose, an exploratory case study was conducted using a mixed methods design. Data was gathered using an ad hoc questionnaire designed to obtain perceptions and assessments of the project. Quantitative data was analyzed using basic descriptive statistics, and a content analysis was conducted to extract qualitative data. The results show that the e-SL methodology is positively valued and is perceived as a tool for developing curricular and transversal competencies. Nevertheless, students agree that digital strategies should be sought to increase the participation of service users.
