Dissemination and establishment of service-learning

Informed by results from different research and the selection of papers published in this monograph, this article discusses how a new pedagogy —service-learning— has been rolled-out and embedded in Catalonia. The aim of the paper is twofold: to present general ideas about educational innovation and to examine how this has taken place in service-learning. To this end, the paper discusses what constitutes a good educational idea and a good policy of disseminating a novel idea. Then follows a discussion of the various phases of dissemination and embedding of service-learning throughout the Catalan region and finally, a list of proposals is presented with the aim of continuing fostering the dissemination of service-learning in the future.
