Through the analysis of María Zambrano’s relationship with the US intellectual Waldo Frank (which implies the introduction of the dichotomy North vs. South in her thought), this article argues that her panamericanism in 1930- 1940 is not only a response to a historic contingency, but also a resource for developing her critique to rationalism and formulating the poetic reason.
